Celebration of Roses, January 17: Madame Anisette®

Link to HMF: Madame Anisette®

Acquired From: Rosarian J. Tucker. Can also be purchased from Roses Unlimited.

Own Root? Yes

Would I Grow Again? Hopefully

Notes: This rose was one of those that was devastated by voles in our garden last year. In fact, that’s why I don’t have very many photos because it was heavily in bloom one day and the next a wilted pile on the ground. I cut it back severely and potted it up and hope it rebounds. Give this one a year or two before it starts flowering–that’s normal for this rose. The fragrance is a powerful black licorice scent. A disease resistant plant!

  1. I just purchased 5 of these from Palatine to make a hedge along what will soon be a pool in our backyard. I hope they smell lovely! I got 5 Madame Anisette, 5 Summer Romace (my fav scent), 5 Zaide, and 3 Pomponella. And those are just the Kordes roses…I ordered many DA roses and old roses too! Spring will be very busy!!
