A Late Summer Tour of Our Garden

September is one of my favorite months. The light is pure gold, it’s less humid, there are fewer bugs, and the garden is still blooming like crazy. Since today was the first day without rain in quite a while, I spent most of the afternoon outdoors: transplanting some container roses into larger pots, staking up the sedums that flopped over in the rain, sweeping away the fallen leaves, and watching the squirrels chomping on butternuts high up in the branches while they toss down bits to the soft, green grass below. I’ve always got my camera handy when I’m outdoors and I’ve thousands of pictures filed away. I’ve put together a little slideshow of the photos that didn’t make the cut to an actual blog post, but I almost like them even more because you get a better idea of the garden with all it’s quirks and “flaws.” How are you enjoying your late summer garden?
