January’s Celebration of Roses, Second Edition
Gardeners are eternally optimistic but sometimes nature throws us a big curveball. Case in point: If you follow Hedgerow Rose on Instagram, then you might remember last spring I announced I was going to do a weekly video feature in my stories on the different roses in our garden and talk about why I liked them. Well, I managed to squeeze in 2 or 3 videos before the rains began and the rest of the problems you already read about in my Year in Review post. Ugh.
I feel badly that never happened since I know from my messages that some of you were really looking forward to it so to make amends I’m going to do a virtual version: A Celebration of Roses, Second Edition. (Missed the First Edition? You can find the back posts HERE.) I think, as a gardener, January is one of the toughest months for those of us in the N Hemisphere, so hopefully some rosy goodness will brighten our days a bit. I plan on doing 1 post/day, so there will be 31 altogether!
The featured roses will be from the 2018 season in our North Carolina garden, only. In other words, I won’t be pulling old photos and information from prior seasons or gardens. Each post will be really short and sweet with no more than a few photos and a blurb about what I liked/didn’t like, where I purchased my rose and would I choose to grow it again here in the new garden. I’ll also include the link to Help Me Find so you can read more on your own, should you choose to. See you tomorrow!
You are amazing. Happy New Year in your new home. Looking forward to following your new garden plans and progress as we did the previous one…
Aww thank you so much, Barbara! And a very Happy New Year to you, too! 🙂
I am so excited to read your January posts! January and February are the toughest months to get through here in Wisconsin and this is like a good book cozied up next to the fire! Can’t wait! Thank you for your great site and insight! Whenever I find a new interesting rose I always think “I wonder what Hedgerow Rose has to say about this!”
Oh my gosh that is so kind, thank you Nola! I am so pleased that you are excited for this series and I really hope that you find it useful. Please do let me know if you have any questions about any of these roses. Thanks again! ❤️
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! January and February are the hardest months to get through and I’m so looking forward to your posts. It’s like back in elementary school when you had show and tell, waking up to a bright spot in your day!
Yay! I love that analogy! Show and Tell was always a bright spot in my elementary school days, too. 😀
