Celebration of Roses, January 5: Celsiana

Link to HMF: Celsiana

Acquired From: I’ve been propagating from the mother plant I purchased years ago from Vintage Gardens.

{EDITED TO ADD: It has come to my attention that some nurseries are NOT selling the correct ‘Celsiana’. (If you’d like to know specifically which nursery to NOT purchase from, please message me privately.) I continue to be amazed at how many roses are sold with the incorrect name from “reputable nurseries” and no one seems to do anything about it, but that’s a topic for another day. If you want the real ‘Celsiana’ you can try Burlington Roses who is propagating the correct one. I wrote more about this on my Instagram.}

Own Root? Yes

Would I Grow Again? Yes

Notes: Even new readers to this blog have probably already figured out that ‘Celsiana’ is one of my favorite roses. I’ve propagated and given away a few. I also left one behind in the North Carolina garden and brought one with me back to Pennsylvania. I had to cut it back quite severely to get it here so I imagine I will have to wait a year or two before I see the flowers again. It will be worth it!

  1. I love Celsiana. Mine won first place in its class at the Atlanta Rose Show last year. I had to move her in the fall but hoping to see some flowers this spring!

  2. This one is absolutely gorgeous! I’m a sucker for light pinks and whites. Also I’m zone 4b, so maybe I’ll actually be able to try this one… secretly happy you’ve ,over to a colder zone, so I can grow more plants that you’ve posted beautiful pics of 😉

    1. Yay! You’ll love this rose. 🙂 And I never thought I’d hear myself say this, but I’m also glad to be back in the north. The roses that I like to grow most of all like a colder winter!
