Celebration of Roses, January 10: Ivor’s Rose (Beadonald)
Link to HMF: Ivor’s Rose (Beadonald) also known as ‘Flamenco’
Acquired From: Restoration Rose
Own Root? Yes
Would I Grow Again? Yes
Notes: Fragrant, gorgeous flowers from spring to frost. Clean, disease-resistant foliage. This rose was almost tied for MVP for our 2018 garden…it’s simply stunning. ‘Ivor’s Rose’ can be pruned to be more shrubby but can also be allowed to ramble and arch. (I prefer the latter.)
So undemanding, I almost forget about her. One of mine drapes over a bird bath. The other anchors the end of an oval bed. She should be more well known.
I so agree! I think this one will simply have to get popular by word of mouth.
Thank you for documenting so many of your roses! I am very tempted to try this one. I am wondering if it would do well in hot sunny inland California. I did find it listed as ‘Flamenco Rosita’ at Heirloom Roses.

Hi Stephanie, if you end up growing Ivor’s Rose in your sunny CA site, do pop back in and let us know how it did!
