‘Celsiana’ Damask Rose
How to describe the delicate, almost ethereal beauty of ‘Celsiana’ that old Damask rose? I suppose I should just let the photos speak for themselves but I will say the following: this is the 3rd season for our ‘Celsiana’ grown from a rooted cutting. It doesn’t get too cross with me for being in a semi-shady section of the garden but would probably be even larger/fuller if it were in all-day sun. ‘Celsiana’ is fragrant (Peter Beales stated it was worth growing for it’s fragrance alone) and produces lovely hips in autumn!
Those petals look like the skirt to a ballerina!
they really do!
Ohhhhh, these photos make my heart flutter.
🙂
I think Damasks are my fav because of the ancient history behind them! I am planning on def. getting Autumn Damask for sure! 🙂
Wonderful! You should try making rose water with the petals! (And then let me know how it works. 😉 )
Haha will do 🙂
I just discovered your site, and am really enjoying it. I was searching for Celsiana after having seen it in a New York City garden just this last week. I know it’s a little late to buy anything unusual this year, so I just put in an order to buy this for next spring. What a gorgeous rose.
Hi Evan, thank you and welcome! 🙂 You’re going to love Celsiana…it’s still one of my absolute favorites!
After spending the last few months reading through most of your blog history, you convinced me to order a few Celsiana from Heirloom Roses, who has them in stock right now. Their photos do nothing for me but I want more diversity in my collection and you sold me with your photos and adjectives! 😊😊
Ooohhh, I’m feeling the pressure! 😉 Seriously, though, I do hope you like Celsiana. I think she is so graceful and lovely and I’m looking forward to hearing what you think!
