Happy Birthday to Hedgerow Rose!
This blog is officially 1-year old!
One year ago I published the first post for Hedgerow Rose and shared photos of our trip to go pick out our Christmas tree. Then, I wasn’t really sure what direction I wanted to take with this blog and I think only a small handful of people even read it! However, few-readers or no-readers, I’ve found that surprisingly I’m OK with that. I simply just enjoy writing these posts and to be entirely truthful I think having this blog has made me a better gardener and a more aware environmentalist. To celebrate the 1-year anniversary, and coming full circle, I thought it only fitting to share this year’s trip to pick out our Christmas tree. (Sadly, our teenage daughter decided to opt out of the trip, which was kind of a bummer but I’m not going to force her to get into that stuff. It’s been so warm it’s hardly felt like the Christmas, anyways.) Bringing home the Christmas tree is one of my favorite ways to celebrate the season. What about you? Have you picked out your tree yet?
My husband, Jesse, is 6’4″, so we use him as a gauge when picking out the perfect 6′ tree. Being barely over 5′ tall myself, he’s a handy guy to have around!
We brought home another Fraser Fir (as we do every year.) I love having a tree in the house! I would leave it up year-round if I could. But it’s funny because my mother doesn’t even put up a tree anymore, and my sister waits until the last minute to buy hers and takes it down right after Christmas. Maybe I was adopted.
Funny! I promise you weren’t!
Thanks for this blog! I feel like I have this friend I go off to see everyday that always has something new and interesting. Florida hugs!
Awww shucks…you guys are awesome! 🙂
It’s beautiful! I can’t wait to see it decorated too. Love your style.
