The Catbirds Have Fledged!

Catbird

A fledgling catbird hides in a Buddleia

Remember those catbirds I was telling you about? Well, they did end up building a nest in that crabapple tree (which explains the pretty singing) and just yesterday their nest of babies fledged. Our front garden is quite overgrown (to the chagrin of my UPS and FedEx guys who have to practically machete their way to our door) and it seems the fledglings are hiding amongst all the grasses, flowers and shrubs. Which means, I have to keep our kitty indoors and avoid the front of the house for the next couple of days, but I get an awesome view from my window. My goodness they are incredibly noisy!

A parent bringing something which looks pretty disgusting but I’m sure is delicious if you’re a baby catbird.

This little baby is only about 8 inches off the ground although well hidden. We’ll be keeping our kitty indoors for a few days.
