Raindrops on Roses
Here in PA it rained for 36 hours straight thanks to Tropical Depression Lee. When it finally eased up, I ran outside and snapped these photos of some of the roses. Their blossoms, filled with water, hung heavily on their stems like soggy party dresses but were no less lovely. Somehow, in the cooler temperatures and wet weather they smell even sweeter. Gertrude Jekyll alone scented the entire patio garden with her strong, damask-rose fragrance. More rain and flooding is in the forecast, and I’m wishing we could send some of this water to areas that need it more (Texas!). Fellow East-coasters, I hope you stay cozy and dry!

Very, very beautiful!
Gorgeous!
Thank you both! I’m glad I got those photos in while I could, because after even MORE rain, these blossoms aren’t looking so hot.
