Celebration of Roses, January 21: Rosa virginiana
Link to HMF: Rosa virginiana
Acquired From: High Country Roses
Own Root? Yes
Would I Grow Again? Yes
Notes: A rose for all seasons: In spring, fragrant pink blossoms that are frequented by bees followed by many hips and healthy green foliage which turns magnificent autumnal hues. Descriptions for R virginiana have heights up to 7 feet but I’ve only ever seen one get as tall as around 4 feet. It will spread to form a thick hedge which will provide winter cover for little songbirds.
