Passing Fair

Goodness, how quickly I do get behind with this blog sometimes. I blame Instagram. It’s so easy to quickly share the garden it’s become my go-to whenever something is blooming. Are you on Instagram? Do you find it to be a great way to micro-blog, too?

So, there is lots going on in the garden and I have vowed to sift through the photos of the past couple of weeks and put them up here; expect to see a few posts come up like bang, bang, bang. Every morning I take my coffee, my new snippers and my camera and collect blossoms to bring indoors. This has become my favorite part of the day. The roses are recovering from the alternating freezing temps and searing heat and have begun to bloom beautifully. Some, I had not seen what the flowers looked like until now. That’s the exciting part about purchasing bands, I think. It’s such a lovely surprise when they first start to bloom.

posy2Last, here are some rosy finds I am loving right now:

◆ This shop is brand new and sells beautiful crochet-edged pillowcases in rosy prints. You know how much I love those. I’ve already purchased a couple for our home. (So I may not be selling over on Etsy, but I sure do love to shop from it!)

◆ Does anyone want to buy this Coming Up Roses tote from Cath for me? I’m so wanty but I can’t seem to justify the $40 + $15 in s/h. Think how many actual roses you could buy with that! It would be so perfect for our trip this month though…

◆ Vintage Gardens Complete Catalogue of Antique and Extraordinary Roses is such a wealth of information! If you don’t already have one, stay tuned because I have an extra copy I am going to be giving away here, soon.

And finally, a quote from the Bard to belatedly celebrate May: “Love, whose month is ever May/Spied a blossom passing fair/Playing in the wanton air.”
