Yellow Roses and Lightroom

This week I’ll be learning something new: how to shoot RAW and process photos in Adobe Lightroom. This is a big deal for me because, and I know this sounds strange seeing as how my livelihood depends on the Internet and I consistently blog, but me and technology–well, we don’t get along. Ask my husband to tell you about how many electronics I’ve “blown up” or how my daughter has to teach me how to use my own phone. And as far as the new-ish camera goes, I’ve had it for about a year now and I still have no idea what half the buttons do. (In fact, people always find it funny that I resisted buying a computer until only about 9 years ago and then it was only because I wanted to use email at home.)

However, my desire to keep improving the images I present here has led me to try to overcome my silly aversion to technology so I can try to take these photos to the next level. These yellow roses I brought home from the market today were the perfect first subject and I somehow muddled through some initial tweaking. But to be completely honest, I’m not thrilled with how it looks overall–the colors seem off somehow–and I feel like I could have done better processing gymnastics in iPhoto; maybe that’s just because it’s what I’m used to. Anyways, the goal is to get better at this before May when the roses start blooming and hopefully things around here will just get prettier and prettier.
