June 6

We’re in peak rose season in our two gardens right now. Although we have had day after day of heavy rains, which has browned the petals and caused a few of the roses to ball up, for the most part they’ve been a real treat. Happily, all this beauty has been a pleasant distraction from watching America’s Season Finale unfold in real time. (Yesterday was a wild ride, wasn’t it?) In case you need a peaceful moment, here are some photos from the past week in our home garden and allotment garden. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

  1. They are all so pretty! Does Erinnerung an Brod get huge and spread out of control? You don’t hear much about it.

    1. It can get rather large and rambling but also responds well to pruning (immediately after flowering.) The only issue I have with this rose is it’s propensity to get blackspot and defoliate. That being said, it never seems to stop it from growing–it just looks a bit unsightly. Hope this is helpful!
