Celebration of Roses, January 28: The Albrighton Rambler (AUSmobile)
Link to HMF: The Albrighton Rambler (AUSmobile)
Acquired From: David Austin Roses
Own Root? No
Would I Grow Again? No
Notes: What a charming little rose. However, I won’t be growing it again because I didn’t find it to be very vigorous or disease resistant. Have you grown ‘The Albrighton Rambler’ and had a better experience?
I had also “Albrighton Rambler” and I, too, never grow it again. It doesn´t grow very high (only 1,20 m in three years) and was always ill (black spots).
How interesting! Thank you for sharing your experiences. It’s a shame it isn’t more vigorous because the flowers are so pretty!
I have an Albrighton Rambler here in Spokane, WA, and I love it! Our summers aren’t very rainy or humid so fungal disease pressure is low, so it has been perfectly healthy for me. It’s not getting an awful lot of water so perhaps that’s why my flowers are smaller than the ones you pictured. They’re perhaps 1 inch in diameter, but still so intricate and full of petals that they’re a lovely addition to a vase of full sized English roses. I’d definitely grow it again here where it’s healthy.
Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s interesting to hear how it is doing in a climate with less rain. I appreciate you weighing in! 🙂
