Meet Lucy and Pepper!
Lucy and Pepper are recent additions to our little family; we adopted them one week ago! I wasn’t sure if I would be able to bring another kitty into our home anytime soon since the loss of Jasper, but not long ago I visited the adoption website and was able to look at the other cats without bursting into tears. It felt like the right time. Initially, Jesse and I had plans to adopt a kitty who was completely deaf and required a less hectic kind of home. However, after discussing it with the adoption gals we realized that she would not get on well with Eva and it would a distressing situation for both. So we moved on to the cattery “just to look around” and meet some of the other residents. Well. As soon as I walked in I spotted Lucy and beelined over to her. I have always had a soft spot for orange cats. Lucy and I adopted each other right away but in the meantime Jesse had made friends with Pepper. Suddenly, Pepper ran over to Lucy, began licking her face and then snuggling in that ridiculously adorable way kitties do. We learned that Pepper and Lucy came from the same home and that was that. We were adopting two cats. Lucy and Pepper are 6 and 7 years old and needed a little extra care: both came to the shelter a bit underweight and with patches of fur missing from too many fleas in their previous home. Lucy is also almost completely blind. Yet in this last week we have seen both of them blossom and settle in beautifully. Eva loves them to bits–I think she’s glad to have kitties running around again–and is very gentle with them. (When I tell Eva every day that she’s the Best Dog in the Universe, I really mean it!) Both have very different personalities: Lucy wants to be cuddled all the time. Pepper I teasingly call “Mouse” because she’s always scurrying about and hiding under and behind the furniture (making it very difficult to get a photo of her). Both are sweet as pie. Thank you for allowing me to ramble on, I tend to do that when it comes to little furry creatures but what can I say, I’m a proud mamma!
Aww! What sweeties!
Look at the beautiful girls! Lucy looks like she has a heart on her forehead. They sound like wonderful companions, I am so happy you found each other!
They are Precious!!!
